Meade optics

"I am extremely satisfied with your design.

My friends haven't seen my scope yet. I'm sure they'll love it. I mean, they loved the Obsession and this design beats the Obsession in terms of smoothness, mirror support (I hate the sling), and truss tube stability."

"Well, the scope saw it's first light (at least in NC). Even under an almost full moon and typical NC haze, the scope performed great. Even with only being able to see about 15 stars in the sky (the only star visible in Lyra was Vega) the Ring still held up to 350x. Although a little dim, the resolution was great. M13, even at 350x showed up as pinpoints. Then onto some double star hunting, Epsilon Lyra at 100x perfectly split, Delta Cygni (sub 3 arcsecond sep.) easily split at 300x. The scope was a piece of cake to transport; the mirror was a cinch to drop down, so nothing was heavier than about 40lbs"

"Mechanically, the scope was smoother in the azimuth than an Obsession and honestly, the views were indistinguishable than the Obsession. I would definitely recommend Meade optics. At half the price, for me it's a no-brainer. I was a little skeptical at first, but now I'm convinced."

Update

"I have taken it to a site with Mag 6 skies (not too bad). The views were phenomenal. I think my favorite view is of the Blinking Planetary (NGC 6826, I think) in Cygnus at 700x and M2 which is completely resolved at 60x and the Snowball Nebula in Andromeda. I am very pleased with the scope; the optics, the craftsmanship. A few of my friends are craftsmen (I am not one of them) and they were all very impressed the your work."
