MIRROR CELL FEATURES.
 Are you unimpressed with Truss tube telescopes that employ a sling mirror cell?
We at NightSky Scopes are here to offer another choice in mirror cell design. Our 9 and 18 point wiffle tree mirror cells will support your mirror with no possibility of mirror shift or sag, no matter what the temperature or the moisture content of the air is. These are full flotation cells that are computer designed for optimum mirror support. All mirror cells are fabricated in-house.
All mirror cells feature a fully adjustable 4 point lower mirror supports. This provides lateral and vertical adjustment to precisely center the mirror in the box. It also evenly spreads the load of the mirror along the bottom edge when observing at lower altitudes.
The lower supports are centered @ 60º from the centerline of the mirror. The support points are spaced at 45º and 75º on each side providing 4 points evenly spaced along a 90º segment of the mirror's lower edge. The lower support contact "points" are firm 1" diameter felt pads.
Unlike mirror cells that use a sling, NSS lower edge supports are integrated with the flotation system of the mirror cell. When collimating there can be no undue stress put on the lower edge of the mirror even if you move the mirror up or down using the full travel of the collimation bolts to adjust the focus position to accommodate differing eyepiece focal positions.
John Hall of Pegasus Optics, after seeing our mirror cell, pronounced that NSS lower edge supports are virtually the same as his testing stand in spacing and configuration. Your Pegasus mirror will ride in the NSS mirror cell the same way it did when tested during the figuring process.
All MIG welded 1" tubular steel frames. The unique pivot points, (heim joints) at the support triangles and collimation points, have undetectable lateral or vertical play while providing a large amount of "pivot" motion to support the mirror evenly at all points. These cells hold collimation very well.
All mirror cells are easily removed from the mirror box via four (4) 3/8" hand knobs and transported in the optional mirror/cell wheeled transport boxes.
Cooling fans are available with electrical package.
